Student Immigration to Lithuania

The present-day Lithuanian educational system has emerged as a pioneer in higher education and adult education. There is a binary higher education system in Lithuania, that is, HE institutions are of two types: universities and colleges. A higher education is acquired after the completion of undergraduate studies, which last four or five years in an institution of higher education. Upon completion of the undergraduate studies, a specialized professional or Master degree program, lasting one and a half to two years, can be undertaken only at the Universities. Doctoral studies in Lithuania last for four years.
There are almost 300 international study programes and courses taught entirely in English. For the international programmes and courses it is absolutely essential that you can speak, read and write English well. All type of courses are available in Lithuania like Agriculture, forestry and fishery, Arts and Humanities, Business administration and management, Communication, Education and Teacher, Training, Engineering, Environmental Science, Fine and applied arts, Law, Mathematics and computer science, Medical and health sciences, Natural sciences, Service, tourism and leisure, Social and behavioral sciences, Transport and logistics, Urban planning and architecture.
In Lithuania, higher education establishment provide study programmes of varying length and levels. The institutions are of two types, Universities and College and Non-university higher education establishment. Higher education establishment may be both State and non-State Institutions.
Non-EU degree students need a Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) in order to study in Lithuania.
Temporary residence permit application procedure is quite long and may take up to 6 months. In order to start the studies faster, a degree student may apply for National D type visa.
